A small excerpt from a documentary I was commissioned to make in Dimen, located in the largely rural province of Guizhou in Southern China.
Dimen is home to over 500 households of the Dong minority, daily life is lived similarly to how it was 100 years ago, however with the process of urbanization the majority of young people leave the town to work in the larger cities and the traditions of the Dong people are in danger of being lost.
One of the most different and remote places I’ve ever been to, a 3 hour flight from Shanghai, then 5 hours out into the mountains. Was lucky enough to get to spend 6 days here shooting, was a really great experience.
This video is only 20% of the way through buffering, but I can tell it’s gonna be good.
